Roll up doors

Roll Up and Rolling Steel Door Repair

A rolling steel door coils its slat curtain around a barrel above the opening, and most failures come from the springs inside that barrel, the curtain or the guides. G Brothers repairs roll up doors on storefronts, warehouses and loading docks across the Denver metro, 24/7, with common parts on the truck.

What this service covers

Real work by background-checked local technicians, quoted at a flat rate you approve before anything begins.

  • Springs and tension

Barrel spring repair and re-tensioning, so the curtain lifts evenly and stays where you leave it.

  • Curtain and slats

Bent, torn or separated slats replaced, and curtains that bind in the coil straightened out.

  • Bottom bar and seal

Damaged bottom bars and worn bottom seals replaced, so the door closes square and seals at the floor.

  • Guides

Bent or knocked guides straightened or replaced, so the curtain runs without rubbing or jumping out.

  • Barrel and hood

Barrel bearings, brackets and the hood over the coil.

  • Hoists and operators

Hoist operators and chain hoists repaired, on any brand.

  • Fire-rated rolling doors

Service and repair on the curtain, barrel and bottom bar.

Common roll up door problems

  • The door is stuck partway or will not go up.

  • The curtain drops fast or will not stay open, because the spring tension is off or a spring has broken.

  • Slats bulge, catch or come out of the guides after a hit.

  • The door rubs, screeches or shakes as it coils.

  • The bottom bar is bent and light shows under the closed door.

  • The chain hoist is hard to pull or slips.

Before the technician arrives

If the door is stuck partway, keep people and vehicles out from under it, and do not force the curtain or try to adjust the springs. A rolling door's springs hold a lot of tension inside the barrel. When you call, tell us the door's width, whether it runs on an operator or a chain hoist, and what happened just before it stopped, so the technician brings the right parts.

Roll up door repair questions

  • Can you flatten a warped door? Sometimes. A slat that is dented but still interlocks can stay, while slats kinked enough to jam the coil or the guides should be replaced. Straightening a whole curtain rarely holds, so we replace the damaged slats and keep the rest.

  • How to frame a roll up door? The guides mount to the jambs and the barrel brackets to the wall above the opening, so the jambs and header have to be solid steel, block or framing that carries the door's weight and wind load. We check the mounting on every repair and tell you if it is part of the problem.

  • How much does it cost to repair sliding door rollers? A roll up door has no rollers to repair: a rollup door's curtain rides in guides, so wear shows up in the guides, the barrel bearings and the springs instead, and you get a flat price for that work after a free look. Door alignment in the guides is one of the first things we check on a door under constant use.

  • When does a roll up door need professional repair? Any time the springs, the barrel or a door stuck partway are involved. The spring tension can injure someone, so leave those to a technician and call us instead.

After putting off a broken garage spring for over a year, I finally called G Brothers Garage Doors. I only wish I had done it sooner. I found them on social media and got an immediate response. Scheduling was easy, and Boddrick showed up exactly when he said he would at 8:45 AM. He took one look at the issue and confidently said he could fix it and had the springs in the truck. He replaced both springs quickly for the exact quoted price with no surprises. While testing the door, he noticed noise in the rails and took the time to tune everything up as well. Professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and honest. The kind of service that is hard to find these days. If you need garage door work done right the first time, call G Brothers. No question. Highly Recommend!

G Brothers came to check out our garage door issue within a half an hour of calling them. They turned around a quote within that same day and I was able to schedule my garage door opener replacement within 48 hours. This was much faster than I expected (my issue wasn’t an emergency). The garage door works much better now than I knew it could (older garage door). I highly recommend working with G Brothers! And will certainly be going back to them with any future garage door needs.

I highly recommend this company. They did a great job! I needed a new 2-door and single door garage door and they came the very next day, did a great job, and were the best experience. I've had at least 3 companies come out and do work on my garage doors over the past 10 years and wouldn't use any of them again. I will be using G Brothers again and again, they did great work at the price they quoted. They were on time, did the work quickly, and it looks and works great!

So grateful for these guys, they helped me out so quickly and at a great price! When my old door jammed up and got crunched they were the only ones who could within a day fix it and they work so fast it only took them an hour and a half to install a completely new door and springs, great work ethic and super nice guys! Other companies told me it would be weeks till they could get a new door and wanted to charge me thousands more, I would highly recommend these guys to anyone!
