Storage Unit Door Repair in Denver

When a storage unit door will not lift, lock or close, the unit cannot be rented. G Brothers repairs self-storage roll-up doors across the Denver metro, from one unit to several on the same property, with common parts on the truck and 24/7 emergency dispatch.

What this service covers

Real work by background-checked local technicians, quoted at a flat rate you approve before anything begins.

  • Springs and tension

Doors that are heavy to lift, will not stay up or drop when let go, with the spring inside the barrel replaced or retensioned.

  • Curtains

Dented, creased or buckled curtains repaired or replaced, including damage from a tenant's vehicle or a forced entry.

  • Latches and lock hasps

Bent or broken latches, slide bolts and hasps that no longer line up with the lock.

  • Guides and bottom bars

Bent guides straightened or replaced, and bottom bars and astragals renewed so the door closes square and seals at the floor.

  • Straps and pulls

Missing pull straps and handles replaced so tenants can open and close the door safely.

  • Several doors at once

Tell us how many doors need work when you call, so we can plan the visit and bring the parts.

Signs a storage unit door needs repair

  • It is hard to lift, or it slides back down when let go.

  • It jams partway, rubs in the guides or comes up crooked.

  • The latch will not catch, or the hasp no longer lines up with the lock.

  • The curtain is dented or creased after a hit.

  • Light, water or dust gets in under the door.

  • It makes a grinding or popping noise as it rolls up.

How a storage unit roll-up door works

Most self-storage units use a light-duty roll-up door. The curtain is a thin corrugated steel sheet that rolls around a barrel above the opening, and a spring inside the barrel carries most of its weight, so a tenant can lift it by hand. The curtain runs in a guide on each side, and a latch at the bottom bar takes the tenant's lock. Over time the spring loses tension, the guides get bent, and the latch gets worn or pried. Each of those is a repair, not a reason to replace the door. These doors work much like the larger rolling steel doors on warehouses and storefronts, only lighter.

For facility owners and managers

G Brothers works on self-storage unit roll-up doors regularly. A door that will not open, lock or close keeps a unit off the market and frustrates the tenant inside it. Call us when one door fails, or when several need work, and tell us how many so we can plan the visit. Property managers with several facilities can put every location on one account, and we can send a certificate of insurance, usually within 24 hours. A commercial maintenance plan can put the doors on a schedule, so springs, guides and latches are checked before they fail.

The rest of the facility on the same visit

A storage facility has more than unit doors. The same technician can handle commercial garage door repair on the office and drive-through doors, gate operators on the entrance, and security grilles on the office or shop front.

If you rent the unit

If you rent a storage unit and the door will not open or lock, tell the facility office first. The door belongs to the facility, and the manager can call us to fix it. Do not force a stuck door or pry at the latch, since that can bend the curtain and guides.

How it works

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis and flat quote

Your technician finds the real cause and gives you one flat price to approve before any work begins.

  3. 3

We complete the work, balance the door, test the operator and safety devices, and run the door through full cycles before we leave.

After putting off a broken garage spring for over a year, I finally called G Brothers Garage Doors. I only wish I had done it sooner. I found them on social media and got an immediate response. Scheduling was easy, and Boddrick showed up exactly when he said he would at 8:45 AM. He took one look at the issue and confidently said he could fix it and had the springs in the truck. He replaced both springs quickly for the exact quoted price with no surprises. While testing the door, he noticed noise in the rails and took the time to tune everything up as well. Professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and honest. The kind of service that is hard to find these days. If you need garage door work done right the first time, call G Brothers. No question. Highly Recommend!

G Brothers came to check out our garage door issue within a half an hour of calling them. They turned around a quote within that same day and I was able to schedule my garage door opener replacement within 48 hours. This was much faster than I expected (my issue wasn’t an emergency). The garage door works much better now than I knew it could (older garage door). I highly recommend working with G Brothers! And will certainly be going back to them with any future garage door needs.

I highly recommend this company. They did a great job! I needed a new 2-door and single door garage door and they came the very next day, did a great job, and were the best experience. I've had at least 3 companies come out and do work on my garage doors over the past 10 years and wouldn't use any of them again. I will be using G Brothers again and again, they did great work at the price they quoted. They were on time, did the work quickly, and it looks and works great!

So grateful for these guys, they helped me out so quickly and at a great price! When my old door jammed up and got crunched they were the only ones who could within a day fix it and they work so fast it only took them an hour and a half to install a completely new door and springs, great work ethic and super nice guys! Other companies told me it would be weeks till they could get a new door and wanted to charge me thousands more, I would highly recommend these guys to anyone!
