High-speed doors
High-Speed Door Installation in Denver
High-speed fabric doors open and close in a few seconds, so a busy opening stops leaking heat, cold and dust every time a forklift goes through. G Brothers installs and services high-speed doors across the Denver metro: fabric, rubber and rigid rolling doors, sized to the opening and set up for the traffic it carries.
What this service covers
Real work by background-checked local technicians, quoted at a flat rate you approve before anything begins.
Fabric high-speed doors
Roll-up doors with a flexible fabric or vinyl curtain for interior openings, freezers and coolers, wash-down rooms and busy dock areas.
Rubber and heavy-duty curtains
Tougher curtains for large openings and rough industrial traffic.
Rigid high-speed rolling doors
Rigid slats that roll up above the opening, for exterior openings that need more security or wind resistance than fabric gives.
Activation and safety devices
Motion sensors, floor loops, pull cords, push buttons and remotes, with photo eyes and a reversing bottom edge across the opening.
Controls and setup
The control panel, open and close limits, speed and the time the door waits before it closes again, set for the traffic through that opening.
Replacing a slow door
A sectional or rolling steel door that no longer keeps up taken out and a high-speed door installed in the same opening.
Fabric, rubber or rigid: choosing the door
Fabric. Light, fast and forgiving. Many fabric doors have a bottom bar that breaks away when a forklift hits it and goes back into the guides instead of bending. Fabric suits interior openings, cold rooms and food plants. It is not a security door.
Rubber. Heavier curtains for large openings and equipment bays where the door takes more abuse.
Rigid rolling. Rigid slats in place of a curtain, for an exterior door that has to lock up at night and stand up to wind.
Interior or exterior. An exterior door has to be built for wind load. Front Range wind is a real test for a fabric curtain on an exposed wall, so we look at which way the opening faces before we recommend one.
What we look at before we quote
The opening. Width, height, headroom above the opening and the room at the sides for the guides and the motor.
Traffic. How many times a day the door runs, and whether forklifts, carts or people use it.
The rooms on each side. Heated, cooled, frozen, clean or wash-down spaces each call for a different curtain and seal.
How it opens. Which activation device fits the traffic, so the door opens before a forklift reaches it and not for every passer-by.
Power and controls. The power at the opening, where the control panel goes, and how the door opens by hand in a power loss.
Fire separation. A fabric door is not a fire door. Where an opening needs a fire-rated door, the high-speed door goes beside a fire door, never in place of one.
Safety and code on a fast door
A door that moves this fast has to know when to stop. Each high-speed door we install gets its photo eyes, reversing edge and activation devices set up and tested before we hand it over. DASMA 403 asks for operators listed to UL 325 or control panels built to UL 508A, a simple way to open the door by hand during a power loss, and a label naming the manufacturer. We walk your staff through the controls, the manual opening and what to do after a hit.

Common questions
Quick answers about high-speed door installation and related work from the G Brothers team.
How fast does a high-speed door open?
Under <a href="https://www.dasma.com/wp-content/uploads/pubs/Standards/DASMA403.pdf">DASMA 403</a>, a high-speed door opens at 32 inches per second or faster and closes at 24 inches per second or faster where an energy code applies. Many models run well above that. See our DASMA 403 summary.
Are high-speed fabric doors suitable for exterior use?
Some are. Exterior fabric doors are built with heavier curtains and wind-rated guides, and rigid rolling high-speed doors suit exposed walls that need security too. <a href="https://www.rytecdoors.com/high-performance-doors/">Rytec's range</a> shows how the types split between interior and exterior. On the site visit we look at which way the opening faces before we recommend one.
What happens when a forklift hits a high-speed door?
Many fabric doors have a bottom bar that breaks away from the guides instead of bending, and some feed back in on the next cycle. When a hit tears the curtain or bends a guide, we repair it. See high-speed door repair.
Can a high-speed door replace a fire door?
No. A fabric high-speed door is not fire rated. Where an opening needs a fire-rated door, the high-speed door is installed beside it for daily traffic and the fire door stays in place.
Do you install high-speed doors in a building that already has other doors?
Yes. We install high-speed doors in new openings and in place of slow doors, and the same visit can cover the sectional, rolling steel and loading dock doors in the building.
How much does a high-speed door cost to install?
It depends on the opening, the door type, the curtain and the controls. The estimate is free, and you approve one flat price before any work begins.
What is a high-speed fabric commercial door and when should I use one?
A high-speed fabric commercial door opens at up to 100 inches per second, five to eight times faster than a standard rolling steel door.
Read full answerWhy is my high-speed door not working?
A high-speed door that stops working has usually lost power, has a blocked, dirty or misaligned photo eye, had its curtain knocked out of its tracks, or has an activator, limit or drive fault; the drive, brake and controls are a technician's job.
Read full answerWhat types of commercial warehouse doors are there?
The main commercial warehouse doors are sectional, rolling steel, high-speed, fire-rated, and dock doors. Here is how each works and which fits.
Read full answerSectional vs rolling steel commercial door: which is right for you?
Pick a sectional door for insulation, windows and a quieter door where the ceiling has room for tracks; pick a rolling steel door where space around the opening is tight or security, wind load or a fire rating comes first.
