Insulated Garage Door Replacement: R-Value by Collection
R-value is the number on the spec sheet that tells you how well a door resists heat moving through it. Higher is better. The trouble is that every manufacturer lists it in a different place, and some do not list it at all.

Published R-values by collection
Collections not listed (Ankmar Choice and Deluxe, C.H.I. Minimalist and Full View Aluminum, Amarr Horizon, Doorlink Premium Aluminum, Northwest Door Modern Classic 7500) either do not publish an R-value or depend it on the glass chosen.

How to use the table
- The top number in a collection is for its best model. Most collections also sell a lower-insulation tier, so check the model before you compare.
- Polyurethane lines sit at the top of the table. Most polystyrene builds fall between about 6 and 10.
- A garage that shares a wall with a bedroom or office is where the extra insulation earns its keep. A detached garage that is only used for parking rarely needs it.
- Glass changes the result. Some manufacturers quote R-value with insulated windows, and the aluminum and glass doors depend on the glass you pick.
