Amarr Garage Door Replacement in Denver: Every Collection We Install

Amarr’s collections look similar in a brochure. They are not the same door. The differences that matter in Colorado are the steel gauge, what is inside the panel, and how long each warranty runs, and those change from one Amarr collection to the next and from one model number to the next inside a collection.

This page lays the collections side by side so you can narrow the field before we measure your opening. Every number comes from Amarr’s published specifications for the collection.

Planning a garage door replacement? This page helps you narrow the choice. For how a replacement works from measure to install, see our garage door replacement service. If a broken spring is what brought you here, start with garage door spring repair.

How the steel collections compare

Gauge runs backwards: a lower number is thicker steel. Insulation is described by R-value, where higher means more resistance to heat moving through the door. “Workmanship” is Amarr’s warranty on the build of the door, separate from its paint warranty.

Which Amarr collection fits which house

  • Traditional raised-panel look on a ranch or colonial: Lincoln, or Heritage if you want the heavier 24-gauge outer skin on every model.
  • Carriage-house look: Hillcrest (bead board and recessed panels), Classica (overlay designs with arch details), or Carriage Court (18 designs with a composite overlay).
  • Modern plank look for newer homes: Northwoods, in Cedar or Aspen Gray.
  • Garage that is used as a workshop, gym or room: Olympus, which is the highest-R line Amarr makes among these collections, or Classica CL3000.
  • Glass and aluminum for a contemporary front: Horizon, a full-view door with a 2-inch aluminum frame.

Reading the model numbers

Inside Lincoln, Hillcrest, Heritage and Classica the model number tells you the build. The 1000 is a single layer of steel with no insulation. The 2000 adds polystyrene insulation (R-6.64). The 3000 is a three-layer door. Lincoln and Hillcrest also offer a 3138, which uses 27-gauge steel on both faces and a lower R-value (6.48) than the 3000 (9.05): the 3138 trades some insulation for a more dent-resistant skin, while the 3000 is the better insulator.

That trade-off is the question we help with at the estimate. A garage that shares a wall with a bedroom wants the insulation. A detached garage in a hail-heavy neighborhood may want the heavier steel more.
