Replacement Garage Door: Amarr Classica vs Olympus

Classica and Olympus are the two Amarr collections that use polyurethane foam, and they look like a step apart on paper: the Classica CL3000 is R-13.35; the Olympus OL3200 is R-19.40. The question is whether your garage needs the extra.

The numbers

The Classica line also includes the CL1000 (24-gauge, single layer, no insulation) and CL2000 (polystyrene, R-6.64), so it can be specified down as well as up.

Who should step up to Olympus

  • An attached garage with a living space above or next to it, or a garage you heat.
  • A property at higher elevation, where winter lows run lower than they do in the metro.
  • Someone who wants the highest insulation Amarr offers and does not need carriage-house styling.

Who should stay with Classica

  • Anyone who wants the carriage-house overlay designs; the Olympus designs listed are panel styles (short, long, flush, long recessed).
  • An attached garage used mostly for parking, where R-13.35 is already substantial.
