Carriage-House Garage Door Replacement: Every Line Compared
A carriage-house door is built to look like swinging barn doors while rolling up like any sectional. There are three ways the look is made: stamped into the steel panel, applied as an overlay, or built as a framed panel. They age differently and insulate differently, and each manufacturer has its own take.
Planning a garage door replacement? This page helps you narrow the choice. For how a replacement works from measure to install, see our garage door replacement service. If a broken spring is what brought you here, start with garage door spring repair.

Stamped, overlay or composite?
- Stamped is the simplest build: the carriage detail is formed in the steel, so there are no parts to loosen.
- Overlay doors put real trim and panel on top of the steel. They read as hand-built wood from the street.
- Composite overlay (Carriage Court) gives the same look with a 5/8 inch composite that Amarr says holds up better than painted wood through big temperature swings.
- Aluminum-framed carriage doors (Infinity Classic 7800) are for homeowners who want custom arched tops or a more built-up look.
