Is this what you're seeing?
Your HOA has rules on garage door color, style or windows.
You need approval before ordering.
The HOA asked for a spec sheet or sample.
You want the new door to match the old look.
A violation notice mentions your door.
What's going on
HOAs typically care about four things: the panel style, the color, the windows and sometimes the hardware. Some require a door to match the original, some limit you to a palette of approved colors, and some prohibit certain window types. The rules live in your covenants or design guidelines, and the architectural committee decides how they are applied.
Start with the document, not the showroom. Find the garage door section in your guidelines, and ask the HOA what they want to see with an application. Often that includes a photo of the current door, a brochure or spec for the new one, a color sample, and the address. We can give you the manufacturer's details, panel design name, color options and window layout so you are not guessing.
Be realistic about timing. Approval can take days or weeks, and a door is not ordered until it is approved. Some colors are stock and some are custom or painted, which affects lead time. Our notes on garage door types and window options help you narrow the choices before you apply.
What to do right now
Do
Read your HOA rules for garage doors and note the style, color and window requirements.
Take clear photos of the existing door and the front of the house.
Ask the HOA what documents and samples they need.
Share the HOA's rules with us before we quote.
Don't
Do not order a door before approval comes in writing.
Do not assume a similar color is the same color.
Do not skip the paperwork because a neighbor didn't.
Do not expect us to speak for the HOA.
How we fix it
We measure the opening, review your rules, suggest doors that fit, and provide the product details and color options for your application. After approval we do the new garage door installation, including removal of the old door. We never promise approval, because that is the HOA's decision.
Repair or replace?
Replacing the whole door is the clean way to match the rules. If only one section is damaged, a panel replacement can keep the existing look, but matching a worn color can be difficult.
If your HOA wants the exact look of an old door that is no longer made, we will tell you honestly whether a close match exists.
