Aladdin Connect
Aladdin Connect is Genie's retrofit accessory that adds Wi-Fi and smartphone control to an existing Genie garage door opener. It plugs into the opener's light socket and joins the home Wi-Fi network. The owner can open, close, and check door position from any internet-connected device.
Aladdin Connect is a Wi-Fi accessory made by The Genie Company. It adds smartphone control to an existing Genie garage door opener. The opener does not need to be replaced. The device plugs into the light socket on a compatible Genie opener and joins the home's Wi-Fi network.
After setup through the Aladdin Connect app, the owner can open or close the door from anywhere. The app also shows whether the door is open or closed and sends a push notification when it changes state. It does the same job as Chamberlain's myQ but is built for Genie openers.
Installation:
The unit plugs into the light bulb socket on a compatible Genie model. No wiring or special tools are needed. Setup connects the unit to the home Wi-Fi network through the app. It only works with specific Genie model years, so confirm compatibility before buying.
What it does not change:
Aladdin Connect adds remote control but does not change how the opener runs. The opener trolley, J-arm, drive, and safety sensors all work the same as before. The wall button and any paired remotes still work normally. The accessory sits on top of the existing system. It does not replace any part of the opener hardware.
For homeowners who want app control without a new opener, Aladdin Connect is Genie's intended solution for compatible units. For openers that are not compatible, or for users who need delivery access or home automation links, a Wi-Fi-native opener may be a better fit.
