Garage door track repair
Garage door grinding, jerking, or a roller popped out?
That usually means worn rollers. When their bearings wear out, the rollers drag instead of rolling, and the door gets loud and jerky. Left too long, a roller can come out of the track.

Is this what you're seeing?
The door grinds, rumbles or shudders as it moves.
One or more of the wheels along the sides of the door wobbles, is cracked, or doesn’t spin.
A roller has come out of the track.
It’s been years since the door was serviced.
What's going on
Rollers sit in hinges on the edges of the door and ride inside the vertical and horizontal track. Most have small bearings, and when those wear out the roller stops turning and slides instead.
That drag makes noise, puts strain on the opener, and can let a roller jump out of the track. Rollers often get replaced along with springs, because both wear with the same years of use.
What to do right now
Do
Watch the door run and note any roller that wobbles or doesn’t spin.
If a roller has come out of the track, stop using the door and unplug the opener.
Don't
Don’t remove the bottom rollers yourself. The bottom brackets are under cable tension.
Don’t force a roller back into a bent track.
Don’t grease the tracks. That collects grit and makes it worse.
